Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Happy Birthday Emails by Vanta (the "App"), built by VantaApps ("we", "us"), collects, uses, and shares personal information when a Shopify merchant installs the App, and when that merchant's customers share their birthday through it.

Who we are

VantaApps develops apps for Shopify merchants. For any privacy question, contact us at support@vantaapps.in.

Information we collect

From merchants

When you install the App, Shopify gives us access to certain store information through its API. We store:

• Your store's Shopify domain, store name, and access token
• The store owner's name and email address, used for support and important App notices
• Your App settings: email templates, sender details, signup form design, discount settings, and plan
• Integration keys you add (for example, a Klaviyo API key). These are stored encrypted.

The App asks Shopify for permission to read and write customers and discounts. We use these permissions only to run the App's features described below.

From your customers

When a customer signs up through the birthday form (on your storefront, the thank-you page, the order status page, the standalone signup page, or Shopify POS), or when you import contacts, we store:

• Name
• Email address
• Date of birth
• Shopify customer ID, when available

We also keep an activity log of birthday emails sent and contact changes, so you can see what the App has done.

We do not collect payment card details. Subscription charges for the App are handled entirely by Shopify Billing.

How we use information

We use the information to:

• Send birthday emails to your customers on your behalf, on or near their birthday
• Create a unique birthday discount code in your Shopify store for each email
• Show your contacts, activity, and settings inside the App
• Send birthday events to Klaviyo, only if you connect your Klaviyo account
• Notify you when new customers sign up, if you turn that on
• Provide support and tell you about important App updates

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your customers' data for our own marketing.

Sharing information

We share personal information only:

• With Shopify, to create discount codes and read customer details through the Shopify API
• With Klaviyo, if you connect it, to send birthday events for your contacts
• With our email delivery provider, to deliver birthday emails and App notifications
• With hosting providers that run the App's servers and database
• When required by law, or to protect our rights

Your customers' rights

Shopify merchants are responsible for their customers' data. We support the Shopify privacy webhooks:

• Customer data request — when a customer asks a store for their data, we email the store owner everything the App holds about that customer, so the store can respond.
• Customer redaction — when a store asks Shopify to delete a customer's data, we delete that customer's contact record, along with the activity log and email history entries that mention their email address.
• Shop redaction — 48 hours after you uninstall the App, Shopify asks us to delete your store's data. We then delete all contacts, activity logs, email history, discounts, integrations, templates, settings, and support records for your store.

Customers can also contact the store directly to view, correct, or delete their birthday information. Merchants can edit or delete any contact at any time from the App.

Data retention

We keep your store's data while the App is installed. After you uninstall, your data is deleted when Shopify sends the shop redaction request, 48 hours after uninstall. If you reinstall before then, your data is kept.

Security

We protect your data with reasonable technical and organizational measures. Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and integration keys are encrypted at rest. No method of sending or storing data online is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App or for legal and regulatory reasons. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do.
